        financial management, financial operations, and reporting requirements of New York State public school districts.<br /><br /><strong>FMAA is intended for professionals who are currently working in these roles. A basic understanding of school district financial management, operations, and reporting is encouraged, as sessions are designed to build on existing knowledge and focus on current issues and practical application.</strong><br /><br />This year’s program reflects the realities districts and auditors are facing in 2026. As federal relief funding continues to wind down and financial and audit scrutiny increases, there is greater emphasis on documentation, consistency,
        and defensible decision-making. The workshop is structured to address how requirements are being applied and reviewed, not just what the requirements are.</span>

  This course provides attendees with an introduction to fund accounting in school districts. It will provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of what governmental accounting means and how accounting entries are recorded on a modified accrual basis of accounting. Accounting 1 will cover accounting budget assets, liabilities, revenues and expenditures for a school district during the school year and it will also cover common responsibilities of a Treasurer and provide resources for accomplishing them efficiently.
