Regents Action on Commissioner’s Regulations

Regulations approved by the Regents included:

• ESSA implementation. Additional changes to regulations approved in September and November 2018 were approved. The changes were primarily in response to interactions with districts as they received information on their performance on ESSA indicators. Regents Discussion of Upcoming Regulations

The Regents discussed a number of expected future regulations relating to:

• Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Task Force Recommendations and the DASA Training Requirement for Certification including potential changes to the current DASA training required for certification. 

• Field Experience Requirements for Teacher Certification and the Registration of Teacher Preparation Programs.

• Student Teaching Requirements for Teacher Certification and the Registration of Teacher Preparation

• Clinical Experiences in New York State Teacher Preparation Programs
