ASBO New York Partner Frontline (Forecast5) Presents Monthly Data & Analytics Tip

Wednesday, May 3, 2023

With board elections coming up, generating a State of the District report for candidates or newly elected board members is a smart way to educate them about your district and how it compares with peers. Stories in Comparative Analytics allow you to create and extract pre-built PowerPoint presentations in a matter of minutes. Once taken out of the platform, the visuals within the “Story” allow you to look at several topics as it pertains to your district. Some visuals look only at your district information, while others look at your district in comparison to a selected peer group or the state. The State of the District story is specially helpful to pull together if you have new administrators within your district because it will provide a high-level overview of several topics from an analytics standpoint.

The visual above is an example of the kind of analytics available to you within the State of the District.
Specifically, this analytic compares your district’s spending at the object level compared to the average for the state. You can look at the percent of total spend, or the average spend per student at the object level.

Questions The State of the District Story Can Help Answer:

  • How does our revenue and expenses compare to the state?
