ASBO New York Partner Frontline (Forecast5) Presents Monthly Data & Analytics Tip

Wednesday, September 6, 2023

Understanding these trends can help you get ahead of potential issues and help to allocate resources in a more effective manner.

Comparative Analytics can provide you with the historical details of different classifications of students, allowing you to project what changes to your population you may see. The Enrollment Breakdown visual can easily overlay different categories against the district’s total enrollment. Categories can range from a student’s economic status (think Free or Reduced Lunch designation) to their race/ethnicity and ELL status. For example, is our ELL population growing? If so, then more resources and support may need to be allocated to this area. With the return of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) to its original purpose and once again, attestation of need required for participation, what does the economic status of students look like now in the district? Is it back to pre-pandemic levels or has it remained high?

We suggest school districts review not only their own populations, but that of their peers as well to be sure the district(s) in your peer group remain relevant. Understanding these trends can help you get ahead of potential issues and help to allocate resources in a more effective manner.
