ASBO New York Partner Frontline (Forecast5) Presents Monthly Data & Analytics Tip

Analyzing enrollment projections is a key exercise to undertake during the planning process. From facility utilization to budgeting, understanding what future student enrollment will look like in the district can greatly help school officials allocate resources efficiently while meeting the needs of students.

Frontline Data & Analytics uses a combination of Live Birth Data from the New York State Department of Health and Enrollment Records from the New York State Education Department (NYSED), to produce the annual enrollment projection. Using a Cohort Survival model, this projects future students by grade for each district and can help answer important questions like:

• What enrollment trends can we see in the district?
• Can increased knowledge of enrollment projections help the district in other areas of planning?
